El premio le fue otorgado el 3 de octubre de 2006, durante la celebración del 23 International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction (ISARC) en Tokyo, Japón y lo recogió de manos del profesor Hasegawa. El galardón reconoce a Balaguer como la persona que más se ha distinguido en el avance de la robótica en la construcción a nivel mundial durante este año.
