Kick off of the 7FP project MOnarCH

Introducing a fleet of social robots in a hospital, so that they can interact with children affected by cancer, will be the final outcome of a new international research project that Universidad Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M) is participating in. El pasado 4 de abril tuvo lugar el 2nd Workshop Robotics Lab Spring 2013 en la UC3M. Las presentaciones fueron de parte de Silvia Rodríguez, Martin Fodstad Stoelen y Alejandro Martín Clemente. El workshop era abierto para estudiantes del Máster de Robótica y Automatización y para estudiantes que están preparando su proyecto de grado.

Last April 4th the 2nd Workshop Robotics Lab Spring 2013 was held at UC3M. The speakers were Silvia Rodríguez, Martin Fodstad Stoelen and Alejandro Martín Clemente. This workshop was open to students of the Master of Robotics and Automation and students who are researching to present their degree project.

Last March 14th Robotics Lab hosted the 11th RoboCity2030 Workshop (UC3M). The topic of the workshop was Social Robots. The workshop was a great success and there was a lot of networking between members of RoboCity2030. A conference book was also edited.

El pasado 14 de marzo el Robotics Lab de la UC3M acogió en 11 workshop de RoboCity2030. La temática de dicho workshop fue Robots Sociales. El workshop se consideró un éxito y hubo una interacción entre los miembros de RoboCity2030. Se editaron las actas del evento.

Nuestro compañero Alvaro Castro González (UC3M) presentó el día 4 de diciembre su Tesis Doctoral. El título del trabajo es Bio-inspired Decision Making System for an Autonomous Social Robot. The role of fear. Los directores son MiguelÁngel Salichs y María Malfaz. El tribunal de tesis estaba formado por Antoni Gomila Benejam, Jo√£o Fernando Cardoso Silva Sequeira y Carlos Balaguer. Obtuvo la máxima calificación posible.

Our colleague Alvaro Castro González (UC3M) presented in December, 4, 2012 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Bio-inspired Decision Making System for an Autonomous Social Robot. The role of fear. The directors of the thesis were MiguelÁngel Salichs and María Malfaz. The examing board was formed by Antoni Gomila Benejam, Jo√£o Fernando Cardoso Silva Sequeira and Carlos Balaguer. He received the highest rating possible.

Seminar held by Thrishantha Nanayakkara (senior lecturer): Dec 13 2012 at room 2.3.A03 (Edif. Sabatini, UC3M, Leganés) at 17:00. Mr. Nanayakkara is a Senior Lecturer (King¬¥s College London). His main research interests are Soft robots, Manipulating soft objects, Bimanual human motor control and Learning based on demonstrations.
