RoboCity2030 has opened in recent weeks a channel of communication and interaction on Twitter. Through it will spread to the robotics community and society in general news, events and other initiatives related to this discipline. In particular this channel will address the news related with the Community of Madrid and RoboCity2030-II research groups. There will be emphasis on the potential of R+D+I in our community. Professors Carlos Cerrada (UNED) and Julio Pastor (UAH), both members of Robocity2030-II, debated about the Robotics as educational element, in a UNED-radio-program issued on February 29, 2012 by Radio 3 of RNE. Our colleage Fernando Martín Monar (UC3M) presented in February, 7, 2012 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Evolutionary-based Global Localization and Mapping of three-dimensional environments. The directors of the thesis were Luis Moreno and Santiago Garrido. The examing board was formed by Carlos Balaguer, Dolores Blanco, Pedro Lima, Antonio Giménez and JoséÁngel Castellanos. He got the maximum mark of Sobresaliente Cum Laude.

The management committee RoboCity2030-II met last February 10 at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The main item on the agenda was the approval of the budgets for the years 2012 and 2013.

Emiliano Pérez Hernández, researcher at the UNED group, has defended his PhD Thesis the past October 21. Title‚Äôs Thesis is ‚ÄúFilling Holes Techniques for Surfaces acquired by 3D Scanners‚Äù and it has been advised by Carlos Cerrada and Santiago Salamanca. There have been members of Politécnica de Madrid, Castilla La-Mancha, Extremadura and UNED Universities in the Evaluation Committee. He has obtained the ‚ÄúSobresaliente, Cum Laude‚Äù mark.

Our colleage Salah H. Kadhim presented in July 21 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Methodology for the Development of an Autonomous Mobile Manipulator with Anthropometric Characteristics. The directors of the thesis were Luis Moreno y Dolores Blanco. The jury board was formed by Carlos Balaguer(UC3M), Juan Carlos García Prada (UC3M), Carlos Cerrada (UNED), Ernesto Gambao (UPM), Antonio Gimenez (UAL). He got the maximum mark of Sobresaliente “Cum Laudem”.
